چکیده
By RICHARD WARREN, M.D. AND JOHN S. BELKO, M.S. A PRACTICAL CLINICAL METHOD for determining the activity in plasma of the accelerators of prothrombin conversion has not been so rapidly forthcoming as have been descriptions of their properties and reactions. Those methods which have been described have employed two general principles. The first. of these is the ability of the unknow’n plasma to restore the total prothrombin activity of a mixture from which prothrombin accelerators have been totally or partially removed ; the second the comparison of the total prothrombin activity of a given unknown done by a standard method with that done similarly 1)Ut in the presence of an excess of prothrombin conversion accelerators. In the following report “prothrombin conversion accelerator” is used as an

Simple High-Performance Liquid Chromatographic Method for Determination of Ciprofloxacin in Human Plasma
A rapid, simple and sensitive high-performance liquid chromatography method was developed for determination of ciprofloxacin in plasma by means of ultraviolet detection. Ofloxacin was used as an internal standard and separation carried on a Novapak C18 column using a mobile phase of 0.01 M phosphate buffer (pH =2.6): methanol (82: 18 v/v). Extraction of drug was performed from plasma by liquid-...

متن کاملCongenital SPCA deficiency: a hitherto unrecognized coagulation defect with hemorrhage rectified by serum and serum fractions.
The importance of non-prothrombin plasma and serum constituents in the physiological conversion of prothrombin to thrombin has been recognized only recently. A hemorrhagic disorder, called "parahemophilia" (Owren's disease), is associated with an elevated prothrombin time attributable to deficiency of a plasma component termed "Factor V" (1, 2). Inadequacy of plasma Ac-globulin, required for ra...
متن کاملFactor V Leiden, MTHFR C677T and Prothrombin Gene Mutation G20210A in Iranian Patients with Venous Thrombosis
Background: Factor V Leiden, Prothrombin gene (G20210A) and MTHFR (C677T) polymorphism are the main biomarkers for evaluation of tendency for venous thromboembolism. We aimed to investigate the frequency of mutations in factor V Leiden, Prothrombin G20210A and MTHFR C677T and identify the genetic status for these mutations in patients with venous thrombosis. Methods: This study was carried out...
متن کاملANALYTICAL REVIEW Conversion Factors and Accelerators in the Formation of Thrombin
E VEN to the reader intimately acquainted w’ith the field, several of the recent developments in the study of the mechanism by which blood clots have often proved extremely puzzling. The number of communications which have appeared on the subject , especially during the past ten years, is indeed amazing, and their quantity alone may ‘el1 preclude the possibility of fair critical appraisal. More...
